welly boots

I have a LOT of stencils.  My friend has just opened a new website selling stencils.  I don't use a lot of stencils.  I want a lot of the stencils on my friend's new website.  These four things don't sit all that well together...

I need to have a sort through my stencils.  I have a theory that I buy what I like the look of without thinking about how I will use it.  I did this with paper at the beginning of my crafting adventure too, and it led to a huge cull!  Any way, this layout uses one of my stencils...

along with a whole bunch of blue goodies dug out from my stash.  I love these kinds of layouts - they are not made with a collection or big brand supplies.  Rather they are a collection of tags from clothes I've bought, packaging, off cuts and snippets, doilies and labels with a few alhas throown in for good measure.

Thank You Card

I'm filling in for a team mate over on the Stick It Down card team this month.

As the sketch artist I usually mentally make a card whilst doing the sketch, so I challenged myself not to make the exact same card as my original idea.  (Although, I may have a go at making that too, it was a watercolour rainbow with vellum clouds...)

Of course, I stuck with the rainbow theme because 'rainbow is the best colour!'

Supplies:  White card blank, alpha stickers from Basic Grey, OHTO Graphic Liner pen, Swiss Dot Ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, red backed tape.

I hope you can squeeze in time to take on this sketch and join us at Stick It Down!

let's be friends

This little cutie and his teddy bear reminded me I had the perfect flair stashed away...

It is from Feed Your Craft and says let's be friends.  A perfect match for the photo, I think you'll agree.

I kept it simple, black and white paper from Cocoa Vanilla and a handful of small embellishments, with blue thread and ink splats for a splash of colour.

I think I'd feel a little guilty if I made all of my layouts this bare but I do love the white space!

Scraplifting Kaez Mum...

The SpeigelMom Scraps guest designer this month is Jen Gagne aka Kaez Mum.  Here is one of her layouts that I found particularly inspiring...

My take is just as colourful...

I used a tonne of Shimmerz products to colour my background and some cardstock which I ran through my cameo.  With my twelve flowers and colourful splodges in place I added a few sequins in matching colours and made of frame of journalling around the edge.

You can watch the process here...

Gingerbread Hugs

Crafty Ribbons have just released a new ribbon range - Gingerbread men for Christmas.  They are adorable!

Here is my first project with them.  They match the photo perfectly and I had so much fun with this one.  I drew up a cut file to match too.  You can grab that here.

I've added some lace and bias binding to the gingerbread ribbon and a tiny heart loop from the sentiment ribbon too.

Keeping Cool

My cheeky little Herb may be gone but he's certainly not forgotten.  This layout is of him 'sharing' an ice lolly in the summer heat last year.

I was in the mood for lots of layers when making this one!  I've gone with a hot colour palette which also matches the lolly 'we' were eating.

And I've become a big fan of a tulle layer on my layouts.  It adds great texture but is very subtle - both things I love.

Stick It Down

New sketches are up over at Stick It Down...

Here is my take on Lorraine's sketch:

Maybe I went a little off road but somethig was screaming make a rainbow at me!!

I've used 12x16 watercolour paper cut down to 12x12.  I used my Daniel Smith watercolour paints spashing around paint and water to encourage blooms and organic mixing.

I added a few puffy stickers and mounted my photo on some paper from an old Felicity Jane kit that Suse Fish designed.

Finally I added some colourful mini star stickers and some irridescant star sequins.

Don't forget to pop over to Stick It Down and join in with the sketch challenge!

Next up in my run of scraplifts is this one based on a Kerri Thomas original.

It is very simple but it packs a lot of sparkle!  The sequins are Lisa's Starry Night from the latest SpiegelMom Scraps release - and they are gorgeous!

The only other thing I did was tuck some black ric rac under the photo.  Perfect.

daily routine

Since this layout I have had half a stamped and painted image sat on my desk.  As you know, I don't like to throw anything away, so I designed this layout around it!

My only other criteria was 'use lots of ribbon!' and I managed to sneak some lace and sequins in too - life is hard!!

You an get your hands on the ribbons here: hearts and dots and you can find the teal ribbon and lilac lace on the Crafty Ribbons show stand - yes it is nearly show time again.

Thanks for looking!

That Face

Another scraplift from the Mind The Scrap community... this one is based on Lisa's original.

These supplies are mainly Hello Heather by Pretty Little Studio.  I love the vibrant colour palette teamed up with bold black foam letters and, of course, my crisp white background!

You see the S's in Jesse?  They used to be ampersands!  A few snips and a little shaping and they turned out OK.  Another alpha hack to tuck up my sleeve!

You can see in an extreme close up that they have been doctored.  I think it would be easier to hide if they were not dimensional and I'm keen to try this again on cardtock alphas.

I also think I need to work on my doodling!!  Haha!

SpiegelMom Scraps Hop

Hi there, welcome to my stop on the SpiegelMom Scraps new release hop.  If you are hopping along you should have come via the gorgeous Sarah. You can find the whole list at SpiegelMom's blog.

The new sequins are awesome - and you will probably 'need' all of them!  I started out with Water Lilies for my first project...

I've made 4 scrapes of paint in colours matching the sequins and topped them with sequins for an over the top sparkle (which I adore!  Everything should come with this much sparkle!!)

Products used:
Water Lily Sequins
Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Pucker Up Pink, Red-iculous
Shimmerz Paste-Eeze in Puttin On The Glitz, Yell-O It's Me
Shimmerz AcriTonez in Blue My Top, Peas Be Mine

Next stop on the hop is the fantastic Sheryl!  (Oh my!  Those banners are awesome!!)

Today & Always

I'm on a roll with scraplifting for this weeks Mind The Scrap challenge...

First up is this clean and simple layout based on Claire Murphy's original.

My supplies are from Pretty Little Studio - a mixture of collections, the stars are from Ashley Horton's Wish You Were Here.

The project life cards which are gold foiled (which means REALLY hard to photograph!) are all adhered at different heights.  It's those little details that I love!

There are few more coming but will be spread out over the next couple of weeks... stay tuned!

A fun, colourful, summery layout whipped up on this miserable grey day!!  The mixed media was mainly left over Shimmerz mixed for another layout.  I just can't waste paints and pastes!

I added in a few bits n bobs from my stash: Emoji sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps, a foiled flair (possibly from Cuts2luv, found abandonned on my desk!) a Perspextive from Bramble Fox, half used sticker sheets (that just won't die!  I swear I've been using them since 2014!)

I've also hand cut a flamingo from a gold foiled PL card from Pretty Little Studios and attached some pink rope legs with knots for knees.  My favourite thing about the whole layout is the flamingo knees!

Celebrate & Love & Care

Here is a recent layout made using Cocoa Vanilla Studios goodies for Mind The Scrap's Summer Challenge.

I didn't think through anything before starting so the process video is a little longer than usual but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

I'm giving myself brownie points for using more arrows and more stash.  If I carry on like this I will be able to buy the new release when it arrives in stock at Lottie Loves Paper!

Always Happy

The Sparklers have been scraplifting Jen Schow this week.  I love Jen's work but found it really hard to make a Jen-esque layout that I was happy with!

This is what I ended up with and I love it!  This is the pin I lifted, which I also love.
The sequins are Sea Shell What? and are a lovely blue, green and slilver mix - almost too good to cover up with glassine bags!

The flair is an old Cocoa Vanilla Studio exclusive.  (Still working my way through my CVS stash to justify buying the new collection when it is released!)

Here is a quick video of the process:

always love...

Have you seen the new collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio?  Of course you have, it was all over the scrappy world in minutes of being debuted!  I *want* all of it.  But I have so much stuff, especially CVS stuff, that I need to make a good dent in what I have before I am allowed to buy more!

So this will be the first of a run of CVS layouts!  I can't tell you what bit came from what collection but it all CVS other than the white alphas, doily and ribbon.

I struggle with using arrows, they never seem to make it on to the final page for me.  I got three on this layout... which of course means I can buy the new CVS ephemera pack as I am now low on arrows!

I love a bit of bunting.  This string is tied on to and held up by a skewer.

And I used a proper long title too.  I'm torn in two.  I love the very minimal style but I need to get some stash used up.  This still has white space but uses more materials than I usually use.  I like it but we'll see if I can keep it up!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down

A super simple layout today using this month's Stick It Down sketch...

Pretty much a straight forward copy of the sketch too...

I've used Daniel Smith watercolours and Moonshine Delight sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps.

Here's the video...

I hope to see you join us over at Stick It Down - card and double page sketches available too - we've got you covered!
